Airbus Order Book Swells By 91 Aircraft In

Although Airbus is projecting a roughly flat book-to-bill ratio for 2012, it began the year with 91 new orders last month, more than double the number of aircraft booked in the same month a year earlier. AviancaTaca's deal for 51 narrowbodies (including 33 A320NEOs) dominated the January activity, which also saw deals with BOC Aviation for two A320s, Spirit Airlines for 30 A320, Etihad Airways for two A330-200 freighters, Air Lease Corp. for a single A330-300, and Tibet Airlines for three A319s. The total also includes Air Namibia's deal for two A319s that was announced yesterday. Last year, when Airbus set an order-intake record, the airframer booked 32 gross orders in January. It also recorded 12 cancellations; none were recorded in January 2012. Airbus delivered 37 aircraft in January, ahead of last year's 33, reflecting the move by the airframer to boost output across its product range.....
